Unfinished Biz BUMP- TOP 25 TEEN MOVIES OF ALL TIME

OK FINAL VOTE _ CHECK MY LAST COMMENT AND LETS FINISH IT UP. People stop the madness, this has gone on way too long. Relationships have begun and ended (and new ones started despite crushing emotional blows?) in the time that its take to finish this list.

TWO MORE (Unless we can remove St. Elmo's Fire).

NEVER DID FINISH THIS LIST- LETS NOT GET LAZY NOW PEOPLE, SIX MORE TO GO@@$#$%@%#
Writing late nite, well, not that late. But anyway, heres an idea for a post, something that will at least capture bitter’s imagination. Lets make a list of the top 25 teen movies of all time. I am gonna start with one, and then whoever posts next can just add a name. Then we can have a little discussion about whether the new additions get to stay on the list.

****
UPDATE: TEEN MOVIES ARE LIGHT FLUFFY FAIR THAT ARE FUN TO WATCH, NOT HEAVY DRAMATIC STUFF LIKE RIVER'S EDGE OR THE GREAT MOVIE FROM THIS PAST YEAR, BRICK (WHICH WOULD OTHERWISE BE CLOSE TO THE TOP OF THIS LIST).
****

1. Cant Hardly Wait – The best karaoke scene of all time – a totally great cast, including cameos, and J.L.H.
2. The Sure Thing - About what most high school guys dream about through high school.
3. Fast Times At Ridgemont High - Awesome, totally awesome. Nice move Hamilton.

4. Grease

5. Porkys
6. Heathers
7. Breakfast Club

8. 16 Candles

9. As keeper of the Blog, I am putting up another genre - Revenge of the Nerds.
10. Ferris Bueller's Day Off - Totally great kids movie.
11. Risky Businesss (come on, how could I have forgotten this, doesnt even need to be seconded)
12. House Party (with M. Lawrence stinkin up the big screen in his first role)
13. Dazed And Confused
14. Cant Buy Me Love - Standard formula teen movie, done oh so well.
15. American Pie - The rise of Eugene Levy ("We'll just tell your mother...we ate it."
16. Bring It On - Just cause we know how much Happy loves Eliza Dushku.
17. Mean Girls - By popular consent, and because we need a little modernism here.
18. Say Anything - Chicks dig the Cusack-man holding up the radio over his head outside her window. "Who do you think you are?" "With all due respect Sir, Im the guy going with your daughter to England."
19. Weird Science - Perhaps not the greatest piece of intellectualism, and I always found Anthony Michael Hall's sidekick (whats his name Happy) really annoying - but Hall, Downey Jr., Paxton, and the bald guy from the Wes Craven movies of the 70's, how bad could it be.
20. Clueless (despite Alicia Silverstone) - people get a clue
21. Last American Virgin - Cause every teen movie list needs an entrant guaranteed to make you want to chug a bottle of Drano, and this is ours
22. Valley Girl - Yet another classic entrant, with a spacey Hollywood boy Nick Cage with chest hair shaved in a V. and a classic blond haired bad guy (a 80's movies staple, see Some Kind Of Wonderful, Karate Kid, Better Off Dead, One Crazy Summer, etc).
23. St. Elmo's Fire - The Brat Pack goes wrong, and to me, easily the worst movie on the list. But what can I say, I merely keep this list for y'all. P.S. Does any male reader like this movie. And how much overacting can one movie have.

As a cheesy, cheesy girlie-girl, my faves would be "Clueless", "10 Things I Hate About You" and "Never Been Kissed"...

Joker- thanks but how bout voting.

Dawn, no on SNF, and I dont think that they were even teens. They lived at home, but i dont think they were teenagers.

Dawn and Steph - St. Elmo, which ughh, ok its on.

Heidi - Since cluelesss has been mentioned a few times, i guess its on too.

Lozo - Empire records is kinda scraping the barrel, imho, but if it gets some support we'll go for it too.

WCD - Well, Last American Virgin's been mentioned a few times, so its on too. And I will def back Valley Girl myself.

empire has quite the cast: zelwegger, liv tyler, the kid from dazed and confused, nick papagiorgio, robin tunney, the bad ass from valley of the dolls.

and who can forget the line, "My name isn't Warren! Stop calling me FUCKING Warren!"

besides, you have can't buy me love at no. 14.

I'm totally in agreement with Empire Records. Liv rocked in that movie!

How about Three O'Clock High - very original -- with some great camera work thrown in to boot!

My Bodyguard - along the same lines as before - and we all know your obsession with Chris Makepeace and Ruth Gordon (shiver)

and - if not -- i would second Pump up the Volume and the Eat Me Beat Me Lady!

All of these movies are sooooooo OLD. And "Mean Girls" representing the "new generation"? Puh-lease - that is quite possibly the most misogynistic mainstream movie ever made - it is for sick old men who want to stare at pre-teen and teenager boobs. Funny? Yes, but misogynistic all the same.

How about "Napoleon Dynamite"
to make the list more current? (My top vote is still "10 things I hate about you".) If you insist on keeping this list in the past, has anyone mentioned "Back to the Future" or "Footloose"?

wow now yall come out of the woodwork. l

Dawn - American Graffiti - Hmm. Great movie. Teen movie- dunno, its directed by George Lucas. It is kinda teen-ey in a way.
Pump Up THe Volume - Hmm Ok possibility. and supported by Happy as well. He's more about quantity than quality when it comes to movies though.
Happy - animal house - not a teener. Caddyshack. How many teens are in that movie. You're reachin dude.
Lozo - Well you appeared to have picked up some support for Empire Records, so I'll have to consider it, even though my sister will support any guy in a baseball cap. (but using Robin Tunney as support, thats supposed to sway me? Please.)
Sis - Liv rocked? Liv doesnt really rock. She's more of a glider, except in pedophilliac incestuous Aerosmith Videos.
Gus - Your voting privileges and those of your dear wife are removed. Perhaps your four month old daughter should vote instead of you.
Happy again - 3Oclock high was on my short list. Did you know that the director also did State of Grace (i think state of grace, not pope of greenwich village). Pretty good range, huh?

And Ruth and I were just friends. I loved her only as a friend. I slept with Clyde the left-turning orang.
What the hell is the Eat Me Beat Me Lady?

Heidi - Um, I dont know why YOURE SO ANGRY today. Whassa wrong with a little misogyny. Isnt it well deserved, when ya think about it. Seriously, though, Rachel McAdams is like 30 years old, so if Im ogling her, its really not inappropriate. or not based on age inappropriate. and Back to the Future. How bout Back of the Line. Footloose is a great idea, though. Nice work. I think that does need to make the list, if its a teen movie.

Im gonna throw one more name out, y'all decide if it counts. Cruel Intentions. Is it a teen movie. If so, I think it deserves to be on the list, ahead of, St Elmos Fire (as does Footloose, which should be on if Grease qualifies).

Thoughts?

I totally second Cruel Intentions!!!!

ab said...

Cruel Intentions?! Really?!

And you know that I love SMG, 'cause of Buffy and all, but that movie should so not be in a top list IMO.

Footloose, on the other hand, most definitely should.

(Wow, I just disagreed with Dawn - that NEVER happens!!)

Yeah, Steph, I feel a little ouchie now. ;-)
What's with this MISHIGAS????? Hehehe. Sorry. I couldn't help myself.

LOLOLOLOL Dawn!

Oy Gevalt!

And, um, Grumpy... "new ones have started?"

Is there something you haven't told us? Inquiring minds want to know.
